Wilson Park (150m)

The oldest public park in Poznań

Wilson Park - founded in 1834 is the oldest public park in Poznań. It's a wonderful place to spend your free time in.

Wilson Park is wholly fenced and it's being closed every night. During a day entry to the park is free. There are 6 gates leading to the park. The whole place is divided into two parts: southern part and a northern one. Southern part represents English style with ponds, artificial hills and freely placed walking paths. Northern part is kept in geometrical French style. In that part there is one of the oldest and biggest Palm Houses in Europe.

In the central point of the park there is a concert shell built in 1936. The shell is wooden inside and the outside layer is made of bricks. To this day about 30 concerts take place in this very shell every year.

In Wilson Park you can also find three World War II bunkers. The bunkers were built in 1944 for German military and families living in the nearest area. One of the bunkers is open for visitations and it's placed nearby a gate at Matejko Street. There are guided tours only.
